Asset relations

Link related media — variants, derivatives, compositions and more.

Overview

Asset relations let you link related media together. This keeps you informed about which variants, crops or compositions were created from an original.

Relation types

footage.one recognises several relationship types:

  • Variant — alternative version of the same content (e.g. different formats)
  • Derivative — derived work (e.g. crop, colour correction)
  • Composition — compilation from multiple assets
  • Segment — excerpt of a larger work
  • Version — new version of the same work
  • Audio track — associated sound track
  • Model release — associated model release document
  • Behind the scenes — making-of material
  • Related — general content relationship

Creating a relation

  1. Open an asset in the detail view
  2. Switch to the Relations section
  3. Click Add relation
  4. Search for the asset to link via the autocomplete
  5. Choose the relation type and optionally a description

Relations can be created as one-directional or bidirectional. For videos, time codes (time in/time out) can additionally be set to refer to specific sections.
