Uploading assets

All ways to upload media to footage.one.

Upload options

footage.one offers several ways to upload media.

Drag & drop

Simply drag files or entire folders into the upload area. Files are automatically assigned to a new episode.

Upload dialogue

Click Upload in the navigation and select files via the file dialogue. You can give the new episode a name and description.

Import from storage sources

Via the storage connection, you can import media directly from connected cloud storage, NAS systems or external drives.

Supported formats

These formats are imported and get a preview and thumbnail:

  • Video: MP4, MOV, M4V, MPG, MXF
  • Images: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, AVIF
  • Camera RAW: DNG, ARW, CR2, CR3, NEF, RAF — preview and thumbnail come from the JPEG embedded in the RAW file, not from the raw sensor data
  • Documents: PDF
  • Vector graphics: SVG, EPS

These are imported and managed, but show no preview image:

  • Audio: WAV, MP3
  • CAD: DXF, DWG
  • Data: CSV, TXT, XML (CSV is also used for bulk metadata import)

Not currently supported: WebP and HEIC images, the video containers WebM, WMV, FLV, 3GP, OGV, AVI and MKV, Office documents (DOCX, XLSX, ODS), editing project files (Final Cut, Premiere) and archives (ZIP, RAR, 7Z, GZ, TAR).

Upload progress

During the upload you can see the progress of each file in the upload overview:

  • File size and amount transferred
  • Progress bar per file
  • Link to the episode on completion

A maximum of two files are uploaded simultaneously to keep the connection stable.

Duplicate detection

During upload, a checksum is automatically calculated for each file. If an identical file has already been uploaded, this is detected and the re-import is prevented.

After the upload

After uploading, your media are processed automatically:

  • Preview images and thumbnails are generated
  • Metadata (camera, GPS, recording date) is read
  • The search index is updated
